Google+ and learning

There is a lot of noise about Google+ on the internet right now. It is very new and some people have advanced access. Unfortunately I am not one of them but I have read an excellent introduction to the new social media platform. There is also a Google tour of the project. Google+ appears to have many educational applications. I can see that you could form learning groups (or circles as they are referred to) and then using the video chat, which is meant to be excellent, you could run learning webinars. All this for free! Google is also about to change the names of blogger and Picassa and they have already changed the calendar and email formats. It all looks good for educators and I can’t wait to get my hands on the new tools. Personally I hope it really does take on Facebook as I find it confusing and pretty well useless from an educational point of view. What do you think of Google+? Will you use it for training?
