Outcomes, goals and assessment

Here is an interesting new take on setting goals or objectives (see video below). As trainers we constantly set objectives or outcomes for people or do we? I am starting to wonder how often we really do set outcomes. We talk about it a lot but how often do we actually pay that much attention to the outcomes of our session plan. Let’s be honest how many of you have outcomes on your session plan? How many of you have a written session plan? I think we are more driven and directed now (especially with accredited training) by the assessment. Is the outcome of your session the assessment? Be careful how you answer that as your participants may achieve the assessment event but still may not have learnt. Seriously think about that as I think we are too driven by the assessment and not the learning outcomes. They are different you know or maybe they aren’t?
