Gaming, education and training

Here is a good article about gaming and education. It’s not new. It’s not telling us anything that hasn’t been told to us for quite a few years but it does get straight to the point. Why hasn’t gaming, education and training come together. It must be a perfect match? Well isn’t it? I think that most good educators and trainers have at some point introduced a game or competition at some point in the session to stimulate learning. I have always advocated that if you have a resistant audience introduce a competition or game and stand back and watch the learning occur. Even better if the audience is ready to learn. So what is the problem? It is money. The big shift will occur when someone works out the right formula. The game will be educational, fun, engaging, addictive and be priced so that most people can afford it. When that happens, look out.
