Who wants to watch an online lecture?

Maybe the lecture portrayed above is on the way out. Please read this post from the Chronicle of Higher Education. It basically covers the issues, pros and cons of putting your lectures, sessions or training online. Most of us are aware that in the university sector a growing number of lecturers post their lectures online, either in video or audio. Many more post just the lecture notes. Often these lectures are only available to students who have a log in to access the material. Increasingly though (particularly with iTunes U & YouTube EDU) many universities across the world are releasing their lectures to the whole world, for free. This hasn’t happened as much in the VET sector from what I can see but how long will it take before we see more action in this area? What will the impact be? Any thoughts?
