Video that explains odd behaviour in RPL & google docs

This week I have another video to watch that covers how the brain works and how it effects our behaviour. Some good comments to last weeks video on the plasticity of the brain. It is going to have an impact on training over the next few years. It is motivating to see that old, injured people can still learn and be re-trained. The one thing it does leave out (and maybe this is covered in the book) is the influence of internal motivation. I have no idea what is going on in this area of psychology but bring motivation and brain science together and we will either be out of a job or greatly in demand as we structure & deliver 100% retain able training sessions.

The new video clip covers cheating and why we do it. For me this explained something that I have seen too many times. Despite how knowledgeable the trainer/assessor is they generally all try to cheat the process by either not supplying adequate evidence or skipping over sections of the criteria and hoping it will not be found.

Have you ever used google documents before. They are similar to wikkis. Don’t know what a wikki is – time to look it up. You can all create your own google docs online as you have a google account. Why not try them out some time. I have provided a spreadsheet as a working example of what they can do. I want you to put your elective choices into this spreadsheet so we can all see them. This will assist people to know who is working on the same units and for those competitive people you can check the progress of others. I will be updating this spreadsheet when units are completed. The spreadsheet can be found by clicking here. If you are having trouble getting into the documents I hope to remedy this by tomorrow.

I have also made some changes to our network site so go in and check it out. There are a new range of resources currently in the Resource area in particular audio files of so called experts (I say that because I am one of them) being asked about various aspects of the Core units. There are some very good templates as well which you might like to use. We are currently building whole units of resources etc for the other electives. There are many to go though and I am interested to here of anyone who would like to do this and get academic credit for it.

I have created a new set of groups and what I would like people to do is join the ones where their electives lie and use the discussion section to ask the group questions, make a relevant comment on that unit or answer peoples questions. Help each other out!

Last thing to leave you with is that the intro to elearning will definitely be on next Saturday 28 March in room A220 at 9.30. Should be a full day taking us up to 3pm. I will have milk so bring your own tea bags, coffee etc. Everyone is invited to this regardless of whether you are a academic student or a network member. Can you let me know who is coming so that I can be prepared.
