The impact of the new TAE Training package on the CIV in TAA

This is a guest post by Jenny Martin on the new changes to the Australian training qualifications.

The existingTAA04 training package (TP) has been reviewed and its replacement TAE10 (Training and Education) is due for endorsement soon. RTO’s may continue to enroll students in the old qualification for up to a year after endorsement. The current Diploma in TAA is not currently included in the new TP as it is being reviewed this year and will be added to the TAE TP when endorsed.

The CIV in Training & Assessment (TAA) will retain its current title but have a new code (TAE40110).

The repacking process has focused on presenting shorter, simplified user friendly unit of competency which are no less comprehensive” IBSA. It has been seen by industry as equivalent to the old TAA40104. Only trainers delivering TAE will need the new qualification.

The new qualification has 7 core and 3 elective units, 1 of which can be from any training package or accredited course providing it is relevant to the work outcome, local industry requirements and the qualification level. The following is a brief summary of the changes:

¨     The existing 3 environment units have been removed with aspect either incorporated or embedded into other units.

¨     The plan and organise group based delivery (TAADEL401B) and facilitate group based learning (TAADEL402B) have been combined into Plan, organise and deliver group based learning (TAEDEL401A).

¨      Facilitate work based learning (TAADEL4041B) and facilitate individual learning (TAADEL403B) have been combined into plan, organise & facilitate work based learning (TAEDEL402A).

¨     Develop assessment tools TAAASS403C has been enhanced and made a diploma level unit TAEASS502A (which can be selected as an elective).

¨     A new elective unit mentoring in the workplace TAEDEL404A has been developed.

This IBSA link outlines the case for endorsement.

Given the content will be the same with fewer units it will be interesting to see the result on pricing and time allocated for delivery….. watch this space.
