Nothing to do with training

I just had to write this post despite the fact that it doesn’t really have anything to do with training, or does it. I talk a lot about drones in my sessions. I’m not really sure why but they fascinate me and I find that participants are interested in them too. The video below is of the first Drone racing league which also combines one of my other fascinations Virtual Reality. The pilots of the racing drones use virtual reality headsets to steer the drones around the course. These are two big tech innovations which are going to change many aspects of how we operate. Not in ten years but by the end of this year, if not the end of 2017. The fact that most people don’t really appear to know anything about them just shows how sneaky tech is. It just seems to exist one day where in reality it has been around for years, slowly being tested and refined. I see the same thing happening right now in training and education. Elearning numbers are soaring but to those who don’t know that, it still appears that elearning is a long way off. I don’t think it is anymore. A few years (maybe only two) and elearning numbers will eclipse the face to face numbers. Believe me?
