Gamification is the use of game design techniques, game thinking and game mechanics to enhance non-game contexts. Of course this has implications to learning and it is already here. There are countless games which are learning orientated and they have been around for a long time. Even when I was a kid we have computer based learning games but with the advances in technology we are seeing a hwole new level of educational game play. Minecraft is just one learning/game platform that if you have children they are probably pretty familiar with.
