I believe that I have posted the video below in the past. It is a video I go back to and watch a couple of times a year. I watched it this week as I am currently reading the huge novel written by David Foster Wallace – Infinite Jest, the person giving the speech below. I am not going to recommend the book as it is a tough read but really worth it. I do understand why many can not read the novel. It is daunting, complex, intricate and highly detailed and dense but life changing.

David’s speech below is very similar to the novel in its use of dark humour but the message is enlightening and worth reflecting on. There actually isn’t any video action as it is just audio but key parts of the speech are put on the screen as text. Listen carefully and maybe watch it twice. When you are struggling with tough participants or difficult clients this year reflect on what David outlines. His speech also addresses an aspect of learning that I believe our competency system has forgotten. Have a great Sunday.
