I have been a trainer for many years now and it still surprises me when organisations still don’t get the importance of training and supporting their staff. Currently in NSW we have the State Government making thousands of people redundant. The sad truth here is that many of the departments are over staffed but that isn’t there fault. If people had been managed properly, placed in appropriate jobs, those jobs effectively planned for to meet requirements and people trained and supported to be capable of doing the best job possible none of the turmoil, change  and redundancy would have been required. Same thing goes for Fairfax. You don’t all of a sudden, over the weekend, need to lose 1,900 jobs.

Check this out. Even pig farmers in Yorkshire can train and manage their people more effectively. I shouldn’t say even pig farmers as they are obviously intelligent, effective managers who understand the value of people and training.
