I have written a few posts on what makes an excellent trainer/teacher. I found some research on the Internet which appears to indicate that to be an effective trainer you have to have grit. This relates again to the emotional intelligence of the person, which I guess is really to be expected. The research paper explains how grit, life satisfaction and optimism are key determinants to the effectiveness of a trainer. They conclude that recruitment and selection of trainers should take this into account rather than traditional factors such as academic grades etc and that these factors could be enhanced by further training and development.

Read the research paper here.

How much grit do you have? Do you agree with the research? Can you identify with these traits. You comments are welcome.
