How is your Sunday going? By the way I hope you had a great Christmas and New Year. The video below is a bit dark but it is a not too subtle reminder of how we have treated the environment and others over many years. As trainers, educators and assessors it is important to remember that we are helpers. We help people in many ways apart from the obvious task of learning. Don’t take, give and help this year. Personally I think it is going to be a tough year for training and education. I was just listening to a podcast where a guy called Joko Willinks was talking about his life and why he had been successful. Two things he said stuck out. Prioritise and execute. Try to do that more often this year as I think we will be inundated with more useless paperwork. You need to figure out what will give you the greatest gains and execute on them. The second phrase he referred to is Discipline is Freedom. I can’t agree more. To have freedom in your job, your life you need to have discipline. It maybe just me but I see endless examples everyday of lack of simple discipline which then leads to complaint. Too late to complain if you have lost the chance or option. Hey, discipline isn’t fun but it often leads to fun. I worked very hard last year and I already know that this year is going to be equally as tough but I booked a great holiday in for the end of this year which is the reward of that discipline.

Have a great year.
