Poor Education but Business as Usual

This article is exactly why I don’t see any significant changes occuring to Education over the next few years. You would of  heard about or watched on TV how we ranked behind students in maths, science and reading in 26 other nations. Australia had the worst results of any English-speaking country. That is disgusting.

Of course we then hear Peter Garrett make some excuses about it and really we are on track (to what?). Naplan testing is blamed (lets whip that dead horse again) and a mother says she doesn’t  care about world results (honestly we don’t care what you think). The opposition says its the teachers (what a surprise) and unions say it is funding (pay teachers more – incredible).

Different stakeholders, different agendas, no facts, just emotion, no clue, no future.

At the same time we continue to slash education budgets across Australia and do absolutely nothing to change any of the factors discussed above.

Pitiful really. I’m just glad I don’t have any kids in the system because I don’t really think it is designed for them.
