More Great E-Tools

During the break I had a chance to play around with some Internet based tools to see if they worked and were worth the effort involved. Here are two great tools that will assist any good trainer to do their job more effectively.

1. VDownloader

I have tried a number of YouTube download programs in the past and generally they do not work or they only seem to work some of the time. This one worked for me and it also downloads video from other sites as well. Best of all it is free. Why would you want to download a YouTube video? At times you don’t have access to the Internet in a training situation and often the Internet is so slow that watching the video is painful. So relieve the stress of turning up on the day and you can’t play that all important video. Download it and take it with you. Let me know if you have any problems with this software as it worked first time for me and works really well.

2. YouSendIt

Often you have to send a large file to a participant, colleague or client and you know that your email system or theirs is going to reject it. Well here is  the solution. Join YouSendIt and for free you can send quite large files. How it works is rather clever. You upload the file to YouSendIt’s website and then they send an email to the person (or person’s) you want it to go to. The person gets the email with a link and downloads the file. Brilliant. I have found that I can zip a whole series of files and send that folder to whoever I want. Try it out. It can save a great deal of time sending CD’s via the mail or hand delivering the data. There is a premium model but it is not required unless you are doing a lot of data uploading. If you are the cost is really cheap at the moment.

During your break did you play with any new  software or find any great new websites. Let us all know.
