I have been writing about elearning for a number of years and it still hasn’t really taken off. It has in some areas, for all of the wrong reasons, and generally it is second grade learning. I have seen a few changes which are encouraging but really not enough thought and effort is going into bringing about some decent educational change. Some may answer, who cares, face to face learning is and will be the best way to learn. Maybe for some, but not for everyone and definitely not for the new generation learner who expects more.

One organisation I work for has essentially gone paperless, and it hasn’t been easy, but it is starting to change the way participants (and trainers) see learning. My wife is using Minecraft to teach students. I am training project managers using online videos and hangouts. Small but important moves.

I will be attending the Connect Summit in Melbourne soon and I hope to see (and hear) some great technological advancements especially when I attend the educational summit. If you want to learn a few things about Web 2.0 tools attend this Coursera class Powerful Tools for Teaching and Learning: Web 2.0 Tools. Register for future dates.

As a reminder please read this article as it outlines 10 powerful reasons why we should be using technology in learning.
