Elearning is a difficult concept for many people to get their head around. Introduce the concept of virtual worlds into the elearning mix and you see most trainers’ eyes glaze over. It’s just a little too far out there for most of them. It is easy to understand why if you haven’t actually experienced a virtual world. Second life is a great example. On most occasions when I have visited second life there isn’t much going on, its difficult to find anyone and you do wonder what the whole point is. If, though, you are fortunate enough to attend a virtual world event and be guided through a series of learning events, activities and lectures you suddenly get a glimpse into the future and what it could be like to train in a virtual world.

The Virtual World’s  – Best Practices in Education: 4th annual conference is one event you should attend. It starts on the 17th of March and of course it is a virtual conference and better still it is free. This event may change your view of elearning and the use of virtual worlds in education and training.

See you there!
