Learning Enabler

I have been thinking a great deal about what I should call myself, lately. I am the CEO of my company but I realised a long time ago that CEO actually meant Chief Everything Officer and if you have received and email from me you would have seen that exact title on my email signature. But that doesn’t really explain what I do when I’m not looking after the business stuff. I have struggled with the right term when writing this blog. Am I a teacher, educator, trainer, mentor, coach…etc. When you get to the other major aspect of my business am I a content writer, instructional designer, elearning designer, technical writer, video script writer and director, learning designer, learning strategist, developer…etc? I am all of them and for me that just requires a small shift in what I do to meet someone else’s idea of what I am doing. It isn’t a big shift either even though you will see some quite animated arguments about the differences between what an educator and trainer is for example. The argument is a waste of time. So I have a new title which I am trying on for size. I am a Learning Enabler. What is that (see diagram above)? I will do whatever is required to take you from where you are now to where you need or want to be (learning objective). I don’t expect that this will catch on but I am going to start using it. Join the club of Learning Enablers and get over the ridiculous jargon.
