Schools – could they be better?

As an ex school teacher from way back I still have an interest in school education as I personally find that in Australia we do not  appear to have made any significant educational changes over the years – even since I was a student. That is a worry. For example even though the HSC has changed it is still there and I think that is a great concern as no-one can really explain what benefits it adds to our country besides a simple way for Universities to determine who should get into what course (flawed as that is). What is the rest of the world doing in regard to school education? Check out this post on Finland’s system. Very interesting?

Isn’t about time we did something about our school system in Australia that modelled new understanding, research and best practice rather than tired political agendas and budget requirements. Kids are our future.
