Paying teachers

I have always found the topic of teacher pay interesting. The article below does a good job of describing the difficulties and why we still haven’t see the issue resolved. I personally believe paying for performance is essential but it should not be on student results as this is not an accurate measure of good teaching. You need to incorporate other factors just like in any other organisation’s performance management system. Other factors should include values, behaviour, teamwork & collaboration, personal development, innovation, outside of school activity and commitment. What about letting students be part of the rating process? Wouldn’t the unions love that.
