Games have always been apart of training. Generally though, from my experience they are short and to the point and quickly summarised so we can move on to the next chunk of content. I have played with longer concept games but they do take up considerable time to design and the outcome ca be variable depending on the audience (and the quality of the game). Gamification is the new big word in learning. If you haven’t heard of it you need to do a little searching and reading on the internet. I am keen to get this book as it seems to be a good place to start. As it says “If you want to learn more, play games.” and that is probably a pretty fair statement. I learnt a lot form playing games as a child and even though my games are a little more serious as an adult (I am counting work in there as well at times) I do learn a lot through play. It appears to me that you don’t learn a great deal through routine and administration. I am trying pout some new blogs on this area and will let you know what I find.
